Our hoster uses a globally distributed Content Delivery Network (CDN) and uses the two CDNs Amazon CloudFront and Fastly. This technically routes the information transfer between your browser and our website via the CDN. This increases the worldwide accessibility, security and performance of our website.

The data transfer to the USA is based on the EU Commission's standard contractual clauses for the data protection-compliant transfer of personal data to third countries.

You can find more information about Webflow's privacy policy here: https://webflow.com/legal/eu-privacy-policy.

We have concluded an order processing agreement (AVV) with the above-mentioned provider. This is a contract required by data protection law, which ensures that the provider only processes the personal data of our website visitors in accordance with our instructions and in compliance with the GDPR.

Note on data transfer to the USA and other third countries

Among other things, we use tools from companies based in the USA or other third countries that are not secure under data protection law. If these tools are active, your personal data may be transferred to these third countries and processed there. We would like to point out that no level of data protection comparable to that in the EU can be guaranteed in these countries. For example,US companies are obliged to hand over personal data to security authorities without you as a data subject being able to take legal action against this. It can therefore not be ruled out that US authorities (e.g. intelligence services)process, evaluate and permanently store your data located on US servers for monitoring purposes. We have no influence on these processing activities.

Revocation of your consent to data processing

Many data processing operations are only possible with your express consent. You can revoke consent you have already given at any time. The legality of the data processing carried out until the revocation remains unaffected by the revocation.

Right to object to data collection in special cases and to direct marketing (Art. 21 DSGVO)

If the data processing is based on Art. 6 (1) lit. e or f DSGVO, you have the right to object to the processing of your personal data at any time for reasons arising from your particular situation; this also applies to profiling based on these provisions. The respective legal basis on which processing is based can be found in this privacy policy. If you object, we will no longer process your personal data concerned, unless we can demonstrate compelling legitimate grounds for the processing which override your interests, rights and freedoms, or the processing serves the purpose of asserting, exercising or defending legal claims (objection under Article 21(1) DSGVO).

If your personal data is processed for the purpose of direct marketing, you have the right to object at any time to the processing of personal data concerning you for the purpose of such marketing; this also applies to profiling, insofar as it is associated with such direct marketing. If you object, your personal data will subsequently no longer be used for the purpose of direct marketing (objection pursuant to Art. 21 (2) DSGVO).

Right of complaint to the competent supervisory authority

In the event of breaches of the GDPR, data subjects shall have a right of appeal to a supervisory authority, in particular in the Member State of their habitual residence, their place of work or the place of the alleged breach. The right of appeal is without prejudice to other administrative or judicial remedies.

Right to data portability

You have the right to have data that we process automatically on the basis of your consent or in fulfillment of a contract handed over to you or to a third party in a common, machine-readable format. If you request the direct transfer of the data to another controller, this will only be done insofar as it is technically feasible.

SSL or TLS encryption

This site uses SSL or TLS encryption for security reasons and to protect the transmission of confidential content, such as orders or requests that you sendto us as the site operator. You can recognize an encrypted connection by the fact that the address line of the browser changes from "http://" to"https://" and by the lock symbol in your browser line.

If SSL or TLS encryption is activated, the data you transmit to us cannot be read by third parties.

Information, deletion and correction

Within the framework of the applicable legal provisions, you have the right at anytime to free information about your stored personal data, its origin and recipient and the purpose of data processing and, if necessary, a right to correction or deletion of this data. For this purpose, as well as for further questions on the subject of personal data, you can contact us at any time.

Right to restriction of processing

You have the right to request the restriction of the processing of your personal data. For this purpose, you can contact us at any time. The right to restriction of processing exists in the following cases:

  • If you dispute the accuracy of your personal data stored by us, we usually need time to verify this. For the duration of the review, you have the right to request the restriction of the processing of your personal data.
  • If the processing of your personal data happened/is happening unlawfully, you may request the restriction of data processing instead of erasure.
  • If we no longer need your personal data, but you need it to exercise, defend or enforce legal claims, you have the right to request restriction of the processing of your personal data instead of deletion.
  • If you have lodged an objection pursuant to Art. 21 (1) DSGVO, a balancing of your and our interests must be carried out. As long as it has not yet been determined whose interests prevail, you have the right to request the restriction of the processing of your personal data.

If you have restricted the processing of your personal data, this data may - apart from being stored - only be processed with your consent or for the assertion, exercise or defense of legal claims or for the protection of the rights of another natural or legal person or for reasons of an important public interest of the European Union or a Member State.

3. Data collection on this website

Cookies

Our website uses so-called "cookies". Cookies are small text files and do not cause any damage to your terminal device. They are stored either temporarily for the duration of a session (session cookies) or permanently(permanent cookies) on your end device. Session cookies are automatically deleted at the end of your visit. Permanent cookies remain stored on your end device until you delete them yourself or until they are automatically deleted by your web browser.

In some cases, cookies from third-party companies may also be stored on your terminal device when you enter our site (third-party cookies). These enable us or you to use certain services of the third-party company (e.g. cookies for processing payment services).

Cookies have various functions. Many cookies are technically necessary, as certain website functions would not work without them (e.g. the shopping cart function or the display of videos). Other cookies are used to evaluate user behavior or display advertising.

Cookies that are necessary to carry out the electronic communication process (necessary cookies) or to provide certain functions that you have requested (functional cookies, e.g. for the shopping cart function) or to optimize the website (e.g. cookies for measuring the web audience) are stored on the basis of Art. 6 (1) lit. fDSGVO, unless another legal basis is specified. The website operator has a legitimate interest in storing necessary cookies for the technically error-free and optimized provision of its services. If consent to the storage of cookies and comparable recognition technologies has been requested, the processing is based exclusively on this consent (Art. 6 para. 1 lit. a DSGVO and § 25 para. 1TTDSG); the consent can be revoked at any time.

You can set your browser so that you are informed about the setting of cookies and only allow cookies in individual cases, exclude the acceptance of cookies for certain cases or in general and activate the automatic deletion of cookies when closing the browser. When deactivating cookies, the functionality of this website may be limited.

If cookies are used by third-party companies or for analysis purposes, we will inform you about this separately within the framework of this data protection declaration and, if necessary, request your consent.

Server log files

The provider of the pages automatically collects and stores information inso-called server log files, which your browser automatically transmits to us. These are:

  • Browser type and version
  • Operating system used
  • Referrer URL
  • Hostname of the accessing computer
  • Time of the server request
  • IP address

This data is not merged with other data sources.

The collection of this data is based on Art. 6 para. 1 lit. f DSGVO. The website operator has a legitimate interest in the technically error-free presentation and optimization of its website - for this purpose, the server log files must be collected.

Request by e-mail or phone

If you contact us by e-mail or telephone, your inquiry including all resulting personal data (name, contact address, inquiry) will be stored and processed by us for the purpose of processing your request. We do not pass on this data without your consent.

The processing of this data is based on Art. 6 (1) lit. b DSGVO, if your request is related to the performance of a contract or is necessary for the implementation of pre-contractual measures. In all other cases, the processing is based on our legitimate interest in the effective processing of requests addressed to us (Art. 6 para. 1 lit. f DSGVO) or on your consent (Art. 6 para. 1 lit. aDSGVO) if this has been requested; the consent can be revoked at any time.

The data you send to us via contact requests will remain with us until you request us to delete it, revoke your consent to store it, or the purpose for storing the data no longer applies (e.g. after your request has been processed). Mandatory legal provisions - in particular legal retention periods - remain unaffected.

4. Social media

LinkedIn Online Presence

We maintain an online presence on the LinkedIn platform- which is provided by LinkedIn Ireland Unlimited Company, Wilton Plaza, WiltonPlace, Dublin 2, Ireland - in order to communicate with customers, interested parties and users active there and to inform them about our services, among other things.

We would like to point out that you use our LinkedIn page and its functions on your own responsibility.

When you visit our LinkedIn page, LinkedIn collects, among other things, your IP address and other information that is present on your computer in the form of cookies from LinkedIn. This information is used, among other things, to provide us as the operator of the LinkedIn page with statistical information about the use of the LinkedIn page.

Furthermore, the data collected by LinkedIn is usually processed for market research and advertising purposes. If you click on theLinkedIn button embedded on our website and are logged into your account, it is possible for LinkedIn to associate your visit to our website with your account. Thus, for example, usage profiles can be created from usage behavior and resulting interests. The usage profiles can in turn be used, for example, to display advertisements within and outside the platforms that presumably correspond to your interests.

LinkedIn Marketing

We use cookies from LinkedIn to measure and understand the effectiveness of our advertising on the platform. As part of marketing campaigns, we have integrated the LinkedIn Insight Tag. This sets a cookie when you come to our website as a LinkedIn member after clicking on one of our ads and allowing "marketing cookies". The tag allows us to track certain actions on our website, retarget you on the platform, and generally gain additional insights about LinkedIn members who interact with our ads. The tag allows us to collect URL, referrer, IP address, device and browser properties(user agent), and timestamp. IP addresses are shortened or hashed (if used to reach members across devices), and members' direct identifiers are removed within seven days to pseudonymize the data. This remaining pseudonymized data is then deleted within 180 days.

We point out that the collected data may be processed outside the EU. The data transfer to the USA is based on the standard contractual clauses of the EU Commission. Details can be found here: https://www.linkedin.com/help/linkedin/answer/62538/datenubertragung-aus-der-eu-dem-ewr-und-der-schweiz?lang=de.

You can find more information about LinkedIn's privacy policy here: https://www.linkedin.com/legal/privacy-policy.

5. Analysis tools

Google Analytics

This website uses functions of the web analytics service Google Analytics. The provider is Google Ireland Limited ("Google"), Gordon House, BarrowStreet, Dublin 4, Ireland.

Google Analytics enables us to analyze your behavior asa website visitor. For this purpose, technologies that enable your recognition are used (e.g. cookies or device fingerprinting). In doing so, we obtain various usage data, including your approximate geographic location, technical information about your browser and the terminal device used, the operating system, the origin website, time and duration of the visit, page views and navigation paths of the website. This data is summarized in a user ID and assigned to the respective end device of the website visitor. The data can be linked to other Google services, e.g. Google AdServices.

The information collected by Google about the use of this website is usually transferred to a Google server in the USA and stored there. Data stored by Google that is linked to cookies is automatically anonymized or deleted after 14 months.

The reports provided by Google Analytics help us to understand website usage and to improve the website and our products accordingly. The use of this service is based on your consent according to Art.6 para. 1 lit. a DSGVO and § 25 para. 1 TTDSG. The consent can be revoked at any time.

IP anonymization

We have activated the IP anonymization function on this website. This means that your IP address is shortened by Google within member states of the European Union or in other contracting states of the Agreement on the European Economic Area before being transmitted to the USA. Only in exceptional cases will the full IP address be transmitted to a Google server in the USA and shortened there.

Opt-out and browser plugin

You can prevent the collection and processing of your data by Google by clicking on "decline" when you visit the website orby downloading and installing the browser plugin available at the following link: https://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout?hl=de.

Furthermore, targeted advertisements can be displayed on the basis of the user data available at Google (e.g. location data and interests) (target group targeting).

As a website operator, we can evaluate this data quantitatively by analyzing, for example, which search terms led to the playout of our advertisements and how many ads resulted in corresponding clicks.

The use of this service is based on your consent according to Art. 6 para. 1 lit. a DSGVO and §25 para. 1 TTDSG. The consent can be revoked at any time.

The data transfer of information collected by Google to the USA is based on the standard contractual clauses of the EU Commission.Details can be found here: https://policies.google.com/privacy/frameworks and https://privacy.google.com/businesses/controllerterms/mccs/.

6. Newsletter and further registrations

Newsletter, Download Master Thesis, Demo Beta

If you would like to receive the newsletter offered on the website, we require an e-mail address from you.

Furthermore, we provide information material for download on our website. And you can request a demo as part of the beta. To do so, you must provide personal data (name, company, e-mail, etc.) via a form. We store this information in order to occasionally send you marketing material and offers about our products and services in addition to the requested service in the future.

We use a newsletter service provider to handle the newsletter, master thesis download, and demo request, which is described below.

Mailchimp

This website uses the services of Mailchimp for contact data hosting and sending newsletters. The provider is Rocket Science Group LLC, 675 Ponce De Leon Ave NE,Suite 5000, Atlanta, GA 30308, USA.

Mailchimp is a service with which, among other things, the sending of newsletters can be organized and analyzed. If you enter data for the purpose of receiving newsletters (e.g. e-mail address), this data will be stored on Mailchimp's servers in the USA.

With the help of Mailchimp, we can analyze our newsletter campaigns. When you open an email sent with Mailchimp, a file contained in the email (known as a web beacon) connects to Mailchimp's servers in the USA. This makes it possible to determine whether a newsletter message has been opened and which links, if any, have been clicked. In addition, technical information is recorded (e.g. time of retrieval, IP address, browser type and operating system). This information cannot be assigned to the respective newsletter recipient. It is used exclusively for the statistical analysis of newsletter campaigns. The results of these analyses can be used to better adapt future newsletters to the interests of the recipients.

If you do not want any analysis by Mailchimp, you must unsubscribe from the newsletter. For this purpose, we provide a corresponding link in every newsletter message.

The data processing is based on your consent (Art. 6para. 1 lit. a DSGVO). You can revoke this consent at any time by unsubscribing from the newsletter. The legality of the data processing operations already carried out remains unaffected by the revocation.

The data you provide for the purpose of receiving the newsletter will be stored by us or the newsletter service provider until you unsubscribe from the newsletter and will be deleted from the newsletter distribution list after you unsubscribe from the newsletter. Data that has been stored by us for other purposes remains unaffected by this.

Data transfer to the USA is based on the standard contractual clauses of the EU Commission. Details can be found here: https://mailchimp.com/eu-us-data-transfer-statement/andhttps://mailchimp.com/legal/data-processing-addendum/#Annex_C_-_Standard_Contractual_Clauses.

After you have unsubscribed from the newsletter distribution list, your e-mail address will be stored by us or the newsletter service provider in a blacklist if necessary to prevent future mailings. The data from the blacklist will only be used for this purpose and will not be merged with other data. This serves both your interest and our interest in complying with legal requirements when sending newsletters (legitimate interest within the meaning of Art. 6 (1) lit. f DSGVO). The storage in the blacklist is not limited in time. You can object to the storage if your interests outweigh our legitimate interest.

For more details, please refer to Mailchimp's privacy policy at: https://mailchimp.com/legal/terms/.

Job processing

We have concluded a contract on order processing (AVV)with the above-mentioned provider. This is a contract required by data protection law, which ensures that the provider only processes the personal data of our website visitors in accordance with our instructions and in compliance with the GDPR.

YouTube with enhanced privacy

We have embedded a video from YouTube. The operator of the platform is Google Ireland Limited ("Google"), Gordon House,Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland. We use YouTube in extended data protection mode. According to YouTube, this mode has the effect that YouTube does not store any information about you as a visitor:in this website before they watch the video. However, the disclosure of data to YouTube partners is not necessarily excluded by the extended data protection mode. Thus, YouTube -regardless of whether you watch a video - establishes a connection to theGoogle DoubleClick network. As soon as you start a YouTube video on this website, a connection to YouTube's servers is established. This tells theYouTube server which of our pages you have visited.

If you are logged into your YouTube account, you enableYouTube to assign your surfing behavior directly to your personal profile. You can prevent this by logging out of your YouTube account. Furthermore, YouTube can save various cookies on your end device after starting a video or use comparable recognition technologies (e.g. device fingerprinting). In this way,YouTube can obtain information about visitors to this website. This informationis used, among other things, to collect video statistics, improve the user experience, and prevent fraud attempts. If necessary, further data processing operations may be triggered after the start of a YouTube video, over which we have no control. YouTube is used in the interest of an appealing presentation of our online offers. This represents a legitimate interest within the meaning of Art. 6 para. 1 lit. f DSGVO. Insofar as a corresponding consent has been requested, the processing is carried out exclusively on the basis of Art. 6para. 1 lit. a DSGVO and § 25 para. 1 TTDSG, insofar as the consent includes the storage of cookies or access to information in the user's terminal device(e.g. device fingerprinting) within the meaning of the TTDSG. The consent can be revoked at any time.
